angelajoana: I believe
that if I want someone to reach out to me, I must reach out to them as well. Relationships and friendships are an active process. Nothing’s gonna happen if you just sit there, pine and wait. You have to go out there and risk it - risk getting yourself hurt. It doesn’t matter if you’re a boy or a girl. Screw double standards! If someone makes you happy then tell them if you get the opportunity to do so. Thank them for putting a smile on your face. What the heck is wrong with that? I’m pretty sure that I would like it if someone told me that i’ve made them happy, inspired them, or helped them in any way. Nike got it right. Just do it. Just freaking do it.

Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity.

During my second month of university, our professor gave us a pop quiz.
I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions until I read the last one:
"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name?
I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.
"Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say "hello."
I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

I actually have a question. Do you regret doing what we did?
No, i dont. Do you?
Not a bit. Ok, i hope you’re being honest. Makes me feel better though. Knowing you don’t regret it. :)
No, i’m being completely honest. I’m okay with it.

I want contact. Soft light, a little electricity, all the colors. Words and conversations that change everthing.
People disappear when they die. Their voice, their laughter, the warmth of their breath. Their flesh. Eventually their bones. All living memory of them ceases. This is both dreadful and natural. Yet for some there is an exception to this annihilation. For in the books they write they continue to exist. We can rediscover them. Their humor, their tone of voice, their moods. Through the written word they can anger you or make you happy. They can comfort you. They can perplex you. They can alter you. All this, even though they are dead. Like flies in amber, like corpses frozen in ice, that which according to the laws of nature should pass away is, by the miracle of ink on paper, preserved. It is a kind of magic.
